Casentino Bike: the event dedicated to two wheels returns on October 6th

Appointment with the Casentino Bike, which has reached its thirty-first edition and is ready to involve the whole family, who will be able to take advantage of the splendid scenery that the Casentino can offer, among forests, castles, parish churches and monasteries, a weekend in complete tranquility.

The event dedicated to two wheels, scheduled for the 6 October 2024 was presented in a press conference at the Sassoli Media Center in Palazzo del Pegaso. These are interventions Marco Casucci, vice-president of the Regional Council; Filippo Vagnoli, mayor of Bibbiena; Maurizio Cipriani, president of Mtb Casentino; Silvio Basagni Mtb Casentino advisor.

Il 63km Marathon route with a difference in altitude of approximately 2200m, winds through the Casentinesi and Campigna Forests National Park and passes through suggestive places such as the Sanctuary of La Verna and its Monte Calvano at 1254 m. above sea level.

The Casentino Bike is an annual event whose routes, going around bibbiena, cross the whole Casentino, passing five Municipalities and the beautiful territory of the National Park of the Casentinesi ForestsThe routes reach the most beautiful and panoramic points with breathtaking views of the valley, touching sacred places such as Camaldoli, ancient historical routes, such as the German path on the defensive Gothic line of the last world war, other naturalistic stretches such as the Wolf path, crossing small villages and enchanted towns witnesses of time such as Gressa, Castagnoli, Moggiona, Lierna and others.

“This is a very beautiful event, which takes place in the heart of Casentino – he said Marco Casucci vice president of the Regional Council – and which this year presents the novelty of the arrival in La Verna, to commemorate the eight hundredth anniversary of the stigmata of Saint Francis. A race that is growing in visibility and that is receiving ever greater consensus in participation thanks to the commitment of the Municipality of Bibbiena and the associations”.

“The Casentino bike is an increasingly important initiative that takes place in one of the most beautiful parks in Italy – said the mayor of Bibbiena Filippo Vagnoli – and this year, as already mentioned, the route will pass by the Sanctuary of La Verna to commemorate the eight hundred years since the stigmata of Saint Francis. I would like to thank the regional institutions, which every year support this event and try to promote it at a regional level.”

“In this edition we have completely redesigned the route because we like to show the most suggestive corners of our territory – he explained Maurizio Cipriani President Mtb Casentino – and at the moment we already have six hundred members, but we believe that in the last week even more registrations will arrive.”

“The opportunity to pass by the Verna Monastery gave us the possibility to travel along very suggestive paths of our wonderful forest – said the councilor of the Casentino MTB Silvio Basagni – and to discover almost forgotten villages that live in contact with nature. The race becomes an opportunity to let tourists savor suggestive places that seem to live outside of time”.
