Milano-Cortina 2026, the Olympic Village of Porta Romana ready six months before the Games.
The countdown to Milano-Cortina 2026 has started and the work to create the Olympic Village in the former Porta Romana railway yard they are proceeding quickly; according to forecasts they will be completed six months ahead of the start of the event.
The words of the President of the Lombardy Region
The president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, participated in the inspection of the works at Porta Romana for the construction of the Olympic Village. At the end of the Games, the structures will be converted into the largest subsidized student residence in Italy with 1.700 beds.

Governor Fontana stated: “Lombardy knows how to best organize major events and the construction site of the Olympic Village in Milano it is a clear demonstration of this."
“This work is fundamental not only in terms of the Winter Games – continued Fontana – but also because it constitutes a great legacy of the Olympics to the territory. A legacy that will benefit the entire community and in particular the students who will be able to take advantage of subsidized housing, therefore at affordable prices: a fundamental opportunity thinking of the Milanese context. Also present at the inspection were the CEO and General Manager of Fs Sistemi Urbani, Umberto Lebruto, and the CEO and founder of Coima, Manfredi Catella.
Work is currently underway to complete the external arrangements for the event, while the construction of the six buildings of the Olympic Village has been completed.
