Liguria crowned “Best European Region of Sport 2025” by ACES Europe.

Liguria confirms its leading role in European sport: ACES Europe, the international association that annually recognizes regions that stand out for their virtuous, inclusive, and sustainable sports policies, has awarded the region the title of Best European Region of Sport 2025. This is the most prestigious recognition among those reserved for European Regions of Sport, and recognizes the excellence of the path undertaken with the "Liguria 2025" project, which places sport at the center of strategies for growth, health, inclusion, and regional development.

The councilor's pride

The regional councillor for sport, Simona Ferro, commented enthusiastically: "Being recognized as the Best European Region of Sport 2025 is a source of immense pride and an extraordinary achievement. It is the culmination of a collective effort involving administrations, federations, associations, and thousands of citizens. This project makes sport a right for all and a driver of development for Liguria. This award belongs to the entire Ligurian community, which every day lives and promotes the authentic values ​​of sport: commitment, inclusion, and passion."

Excellence and innovation in sport

ACES Europe He justified his decision by emphasizing the Region's commitment to building an integrated sports promotion strategy. Liguria has successfully combined structural investments, educational projects, and inclusion initiatives. Among the most significant actions is the record allocation of Over 11 million euros in 2025 for sports facilities, with particular attention to young people, people with disabilities and the over 65s.

The award will be officially presented during the end-of-year ceremony at the European Parliament in Brussels, in the presence of representatives of all the European Capitals and Regions of Sport, thus establishing Liguria as a European point of reference for innovative and inclusive sports policies.
