Serie A: Roma narrow, Atalanta on the rise

Serie A: Roma narrowly edged, Atalanta on the rise.

The last two Sunday games saw victories for Roma and Atalanta. The Giallorossi won in Empoli thanks to Soulé's goal after just twenty seconds. The Bergamo team won at the Allianz Stadium with a clear 0-4.

Empoli-Roma 0-1

The first half is unlocked after just 20 seconds with Soulé who scores from a cross by Salah-Eddine. The home team responds in the 8th minute with a shot from the edge of the area by De Sciglio that is parried by Svilar. In the 21st minute Colombo also tries, but his shot is smothered by Hummels and becomes easy prey for the Giallorossi goalkeeper. In the 23rd minute Shomurodov serves Pellegrini who shoots first-time and sends it just wide from an excellent position. In the 37th minute the roles are reversed, Pellegrini serves Shomurodov who shoots and hits the crossbar. Two minutes later Roma hit the woodwork again with Kone who, after beating Silvestri, shoots against the post. In the last minute of the first half, Silvestri denies Shomurodov a second goal with a super save.

In the second half Pellegrini was still dangerous with a header that forced Silvestri into another great save. Empoli remained in the game until the end, hunting for the equaliser. In the 84th minute the former  of the match Baldanzi enters the area and shoots, but the Azzurri goalkeeper is attentive. In the 91st minute Silvestri once again denies Roma a second by deflecting Dovbyk's shot below into a corner. It ends 0-1.

Roma's positive streak continues and they become serious contenders for Europe. The Giallorossi rise to 46 points, 4 points behind Bologna.

D'Aversa's team remains third to last with 22 points and the safety zone remains at +2.

In the first half, Thuram tries in the 8th minute, but his shot from the edge ends up just over the crossbar. Goddess immediately responds with a shot from Zappacosta that goes wide. In the 27th minute McKennie touches it with his arm in the area and the referee awards a penalty to Atalanta. He steps up to the spot Retegui who doesn't miss and makes it 0-1. In the 39th minute, De Room sends the ball just wide with a nice shot from the edge. In the 43rd minute, Lookman's shot is deflected by Kelly and ends up on the post. In the continuation of the action, Di Gregorio performs a miracle on the Nigerian striker. A minute later, the Juventus goalkeeper keeps the score at 0-1 thanks to a great save on Zappacosta.

In the second half the Nerazzurri immediately doubled their lead; Di Gregorio managed to block Lookman's first shot, but could do nothing about the shot from DeRoon. At 66' the 0-3 also arrives signed by Zappa costa who scores on a back-heel assist from Kolasinac. Juventus never shows up near Carnesecchi and in the 77th minute Bergamo scores a poker. Vlahovic gets his first ball of the match wrong and sets off Lookman who flies towards the black and white goal and pierces Di Gregorio for the 0-4. In the 85th minute, Vlahovic strikes first intention from the center of the area, but Carnesecchi blocks with a great save. Two minutes later, Carnesecchi denies the goal of honor to the black and whites with a miracle on McKennie's header. Ends 0-4.

Thiago Motta's team returns to defeat after five consecutive victories. The Scudetto dream for Juventus seems to have lasted only one week and tomorrow Lazio can overtake.

Gasperini's team conquers the Allianz Stadium and does so with a goleada. La Dea remains in third place, 3 points behind the top.
