Sabaudia: Carabinieri arrested the person who set fire to Municipal Police cars and a private individual.

In the late morning of Tuesday, December 2nd, the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Latina Company, together with the military of the Sabaudia Station, they arrested a 40-year-old man, already known to the police, believed to be the alleged perpetrator of two arson attacks occurred during the night between Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo.

At about 3:00 in the night, following a report received by 112, the Carabinieri intervened in England Street where the flames had engulfed and destroyed two electric Jeep Renegades of the Municipal Police, parked in front of the Command and near the charging stations.

Thanks to the images of the municipal video surveillance system, the military – in collaboration with the Local Police – were able to rebuild the dynamicsA disguised man allegedly doused the vehicles with flammable liquid, then set them on fire and fled in his own car.

The elements collected allowed the Carabinieri to quickly identify the alleged perpetrator and start immediate searches.

The man was tracked down and stopped in a wooded area of ​​Sabaudia, while he was heading towards Lake Paola. At that point he was arrested.

A second fire in San Felice Circeo

During the investigative activities, further elements emerged which would also link the 40-year-old to another fire which occurred a few hours earlier in San Felice Circeo, where a car belonging to a private citizen was set on fire.

According to initial reconstructions, the man would have acted to carry out a striking gesture, intending to get arrested due to perceived problems within his family.

Once the ritual procedures were completed, the 40-year-old was transferred to the Latina Prison, available to the Judicial Authority.
