Messina, the exhibition dedicated to Tommaso Cannizzaro inaugurated
Messina, in the presence of the Councilor for Culture Enzo Caruso, the documentary and photographic exhibition dedicated to the Messina poet and scholar Tommaso Cannizzaro was inaugurated at the Palacultura, curated by the staff of the Municipal Library.
The initiative took place within the framework of commemoration of the centenary of his death of the poet, of which the exhibition represents the first of the events dedicated to him. The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Director of the Tosi Siragusa Regional Library, preceded by greetings fromCouncilor Caruso, and from the reading of some poems by Cannizzaro recited by Marco Castiglia, while the introduction of the exhibition was curated by Dr. Giovanna Quartarone which focused on the author's life and his works.
On display, manuscripts, poems and works, including the “Divine Comedy” translated into Sicilian by Cannizzaro who, after his death, left a legacy to the Municipality his library, from which it takes its name. Out of gratitude, the City also named one of them With, with resolution no. 355 of 14 June 1924, and one School. Of particular interest, the plaster bust and the reconstruction of his studio, on whose desk some are displayed precious belongings to Tommaso Cannizzaro. The exhibition will be open until February 1, 2022, during the orari di apertura of the Library.
The next scheduled events include 16 December at 17 the presentation of the second edition of the Divine Comedy translated into Sicilian by Tommaso Cannizzaro published by Pungitopo publishing house; and the 20th DecemberAlways to 17, the presentation of the 2nd issue of the Notebooks of the Library and Historical Archives "Poems from the Marchesino 1894-1921″, ed Alba Create, with several contributions.
