As part of targeted controls to ensure the safety of the food supply chain and compliance with regulations in the restaurant and wine sectors, the Carabinieri of the Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit of Palermo They checked some restaurants, cellars and wineries in the provinces of Palermo and Trapani.
During the checks, the military found numerous administrative violations concerning the lack of traceability of products intended for administration, the performance of the catering service in the absence of specific authorization, the illegal expansion of the reception areas of commercial establishments, as well as the failure to communicate to the Customs Agency the update of the plan of the wine vessels present in the cellar and the failure to exhibit the documentation necessary for the traceability of the wine product.
Overall, the military seized approximately 100 kg of food products lacking the necessary certifications to guarantee the health of the consumer and approximately 700 liters of bulk wine contained inside the silos.
