Messina, the “Spazio Gioco” project presented for the redevelopment of the Montepiselli park.
During a meeting in the Montepiselli park, in the presence of the Mayor Cateno De Luca, the project was illustrated “Play Space”. The meeting was attended by Councilors Alessandra Calafiore and Francesco Caminiti; the President of Messina Social City Valeria Asquini and of AMAM Loredana Bonasera; the member of the Messinservizi Board of Directors Mariagrazia Interdonato; a delegation of councilors from the IV Municipality and Father Giovanni Sturiale from the parish “S. Teresa of the Child Jesus” of Montepiselli. “Play Space – Mayor De Luca specified – it is not just a play area for children, as today we are giving back to the City a site of 9 thousand square metres, including the house, thanks to excellent teamwork by the Messina Social City Special Agency and the Messinaservizi and Amam companies for redevelop a space that has been closed in a state of abandonment and decay for 30 years. This is the concrete example of one of the priority objectives set by this Administration, that of returning green spaces to citizens that for too many years have been deprived of use in order to guarantee citizenship that the territory belongs to those who live there. to encourage the meeting between resource and citizen".
“The project curated by Messina Social City – continued Councilor Calafiore – is part of the national socio-educational lines aimed at implementing services for children, financed through the resources of the National Fund for the Integrated Education and Education System, in support of the multi-year Action Plan, Legislative Decree no. .65 of 13.04.2017; services that we have already started in Villa Dante, followed by the Royal villa and today in this redeveloped area of Montepiselli". Regarding the aims of the project, President Asquini explained that “Since its inception, the Messina Social City Special Agency has paid particular attention to the theme of childhood with an ever-renewed commitment to offering quality education as a right of children. 'Spazio Gioco' is part of this perspective, a supplementary service for children with playful features which provides attendance methods according to criteria of maximum flexibility aimed at offering children the opportunity to experience play individually and with peers in an adequately organized environment, giving families support, albeit temporary, in the care and growth of their children . The Company's choice to create play spaces in green areas also represents an educational choice based on the principles of outdoor education, respect for the environment and the need to guarantee contact with nature.
The project is the result of teamwork with Messinaservizi, Amam and with Councilor Francesco Caminiti who each took care of the pruning, weeding and safety of the trees, water-related works and installation of the system according to their respective skills. of LED lighting, in order to restore a redeveloped green area. To this end, in the area intended for the play space, a prefabricated modular structure with low environmental impact and perfectly integrated into the context will be built, suitable for 25 seats intended for use by children aged 3 and up. The modules will have all the necessary features to facilitate new spaces suitable for teaching where aesthetics, comfort and safety will be guaranteed. Then on the program – Asquini concluded – the creation of a refreshment area, an area for games and an area dedicated to the use of adults with the aim of offering children, families and the elderly moments to spend in contact with nature to improve the quality of urban living and ensuring physical and mental well-being". The presentation of the new Montepiselli pine forest ended with the blessing by Father Sturiale with the hope that the redeveloped site can contribute to uniting social and be the strong point of a civil society founded on the values of social inclusion, to guarantee contact with nature, improve the quality of urban living, enhance the cultural heritage so that the city community regains the sense of belonging to its territory.
