Siena, agreement with the Chinese University of Wenzhou

The collaboration between the Chinese university and the University of Siena is strengthened, agreement signed for the award of the double degree

Siena, agreement with the Chinese University of Wenzhou.

The close collaboration between theSiena University and Wenzhou University of China. It was signed by the rector Francis Frati and from the president of the Chinese University an agreement of double title (double degree) for the three-year degree in Languages ​​for Intercultural and Business Communication.

The new program will be active next time academic year 2022-23, involving in addition to the degree course provided by the department of Philology and Criticism of Ancient and Modern Literature at the Arezzo campus, the College of International Education and the School of Foreign Languages ​​of Wenzhou University.

The four-year course will allow students from the two universities to obtain a first level degree in Languages ​​for Intercultural and Business Communication at the University of Siena at the end of the third year and an equivalent "bachelor" qualification, recognized by Chinese law, in Chinese language and literature with specialization in Business Chinese at Wenzhou University at the end of the quarter.

Enrolled members will spend the first two years at the place of origin, Unisi o Wenzhou, perfecting Chinese and Italian respectively, and then completing theirs international mobility training course at the partner university.

In addition to the study of Chinese language and culture, the new curriculum includes teachings of history, geography, Italian and comparative studies, social and economic sciences. The double title also provides internship and job orientation activities during international mobility.

The signing of the agreement enriches a profitable exchange of activities between the University of Siena and the Chinese Wenzhou University, whose relationships have consolidated over time thanks to some visits to China by the rector Francesco Frati, the presidents of the degree course in Languages ​​for Communication and Business Professor Roberto Venuti and professor Silvia Calamai, and thanks to the commitment of professor Maria Omodeo, of the department of Philology and criticism of ancient and modern literatures of the University of Siena.

In recent years, the degree course in Languages ​​for Intercultural and Business Communication benefited from the teaching activity in the presence of highly qualified native Chinese speakers from Wenzhou University at the Arezzo headquarters.

In January 2020, the first Winter School for Wenzhou University students was held at the Pionta campus in Arezzo. Finally, for over two years the two universities have been enriching their respective libraries with mutual donations of publications.

The signing of the agreement follows a recent research mission by the professor Gianluigi Negro, of the department of Philology and criticism of ancient and modern literature, at the Chinese university and was welcomed by professor Francesco D'Arelli, director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai.

In addition to international mobility of students and teachers, the collaboration with Wenzhou University is aimed at developing new research projects, with particular reference to the second and third generation Chinese communities in Tuscany, and at strengthening synergies with the economic and social fabric of Arezzo and Siena.
