Nocera Inferiore: meeting on security for tobacconists and pharmacies against thefts and robberies.
Yesterday afternoon, in Nocera Inferiore, at the multipurpose hall Galleria Maiorino, Lt. Col. Gianfranco Albanese, Commander of the local Carabinieri Territorial Department, and Maj. Carlo Santarpia, Commander of the Mercato San Severino Carabinieri Company, have implemented the memorandum of understanding signed in the Prefecture in February 2024 “for the prevention of crime in monopoly goods retailers and pharmacies”, and in line with the agreements already signed at the prefectural level with the provincial president of the Italian Tobacconists Federation and Federfarma, they held a meeting-discussion with the local traders and category representatives aimed at the collective training of sector operators and the valorisation of dissemination activities aimed at reducing the risks for businesses in relation to thefts and robberies suffered by tobacconists and pharmacies, with particular reference to the joint activities to be implemented to prevent and counter such events.
The various measures that could be adopted were considered, such as the implementation of passive security systems such as video surveillance in the shops in direct connection with the Carabinieri and Police operations centres, the burglar alarm with smoke system, as well as providing a series of useful indications to increase the level of "self-protection" in the management of commercial activities such as the incentive for electronic payment instruments and the strengthening of passive defense measures.
The procedural aspects were also defined and constant monitoring of the phenomenon was ensured, also to identify best practices in relation to the safety needs of monopoly retailers and pharmacies, whose members of the initiative will display a sticker with a distinctive and immediately recognizable logo to indicate their membership in an "anti-crime and anti-robbery security network" connected to the police force.
Finally renewed the invitation to immediately report to the emergency number 112 any event suffered or the presence of suspicious people near commercial establishments, so as to allow the rapid activation of the new dynamic operational modules by the Police Forces.
