Rimini. Policewomen and policemen in high schools with the project “Train to be Cool”.
The meetings between the staff of the Rimini Polfer Section and the Rimini students of the “Liceo Statale Alessandro SERPIERI” have concluded the “Train… to be Cool” project, proposed at a national level by the Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with the MIUR and “La Sapienza” University of Rome.
The project, which refers to the double meaning of “Train”, that is, of train but also of education and "cool", that is, "fashionable" according to youth language, it was illustrated on various days to 12 classes for a total of more than 300 students.
In recent days, Polfer operators, appropriately trained, have approached the children, creating great harmony and involvement with them from the beginning. They managed to arouse their interest by capturing their attention with slides and videos, relating to safety in general and in particular in the train station, analyzing the behaviors that put personal safety at greatest risk. News stories have been reported that occurred in some Italian cities and that had as protagonists young people, victims of train accidents resulting from the failure to observe simple, but often disregarded, behavioral rules. The very dangerous phenomenon of "selfies" with the oncoming train has been addressed, often exhibited by videos available online that show performances that are clearly fake and can generate dangerous emulation phenomena.
Thanks to the commitment of the legality representative Prof. Gianfranco BONVICINI and the sensitivity of the school principal Prof. Francesca TORNATORE, to the teachers who participated in the project and above all thanks to the enthusiasm of the students it was possible to develop the concept of security and trust in institutions, working together on a format shared by the Railway Police Service.
At the end of each meeting, the young people present electronically filled out anonymous satisfaction questionnaires on the topics covered "pre and post meeting" by scanning a dedicated "QR code".
