Last Tuesday, in the late afternoon, a pedestrian was hit along the Via Salaria, at km 40+200, in the Municipality of Fara in Sabina. The man, a 62-year-old Italian from Pomezia, little known in the town because he had recently moved there, is in serious conditions.
The exact dynamics are still being examined by the Carabinieri of the Fara in Sabina Station who, after the request for intervention received from a passerby to the Operations Centre of the Carabinieri Company of Poggio Mirteto, promptly intervened on site: from an initial reconstruction it would seem that the man, who was alone, decided to cross the main road on foot, in a poorly lit spot with no pedestrian crossing.
Unfortunately, just at that moment a vehicle arrived, driven by a 41-year-old Italian woman, who did not have time to stop, impacting the man., whose conditions immediately appeared worrying, so much so that the 118 medical staff who intervened ordered his immediate transfer to the “Sant'Andrea” Hospital in Rome with a red code, where he arrived in danger of life, although the prognosis is not yet known.
The investigations carried out immediately after the incident excluded that the driver, who stopped to provide first aid, was under the influence of alcohol. However, the vehicle was seized and photoplanimetric surveys were carried out.
The military personnel employed by the Poggio Mirteto Company informed the relatives of the pedestrian involved and the Judicial Authority of the incident for the subsequent assessments of the case.
