Cittaducale (Rieti), General Fabrizio Parrulli new commander of theForestry, Environmental and Agri-food Units Carabinieri

The handover ceremony of the Commander of the Carabinieri Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Units took place in the morning in the suggestive natural setting of the Carabinieri Forestry School in Cittaducale (RI), ancient institute that deals with the training and professional development of military personnel specialized in forestry, environmental and agri-food protection.

The event took place in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, Hon. Francesco Lollobrigida and the General Commander of the Carabinieri, Gen. CA Salvatore Luongo, in front of soldiers lined up to represent the students of the specialization course of the Forestry School and the various specialties of the Forestry, Environmental and Agri-food Units Command, as well as the ANC, ANFOR, UFDI, ONAOMAC and numerous guests and authorities.

Army Corps General Andrea Rispoli leaves the Command of the Large Unit born from the union between the State Forestry Corps and the Carabinieri, representing, today, one of the most important environmental police forces at an international level with the aim of protecting the environment, forests, biodiversity and the agri-food chain. A highly specialized sector which, by exploiting technological innovation and close synergies with associations, the academic and scientific world and with technical and control authorities, is dedicated not only to the prevention and repression of crimes and offences, but also to scientific research, the conservation of natural heritage, environmental monitoring, the maintenance of protected areas and numerous training, information and educational activities, with a strong international vocation.

General Rispoli takes on the role of Head of the Office for the Protection of Culture and Memory of Defense.
He is replaced by Lieutenant General Fabrizio Parrulli, 61 years old, an officer with consolidated national and international experience, who from 2021 to last July held the position of Defense Attaché and Military Advisor at the Permanent Representation of Italy to the UN.Previously, his main roles included the Command of the Veneto Carabinieri Legion, the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and, before that, that of Head of the Planning and Military Police Office of the General Command and Provincial Commander of Salerno.

The Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, speaking during the ceremony: “The CUFA represents a unique excellence, which carries forward the values ​​of honor, dedication and respect, in a fundamental area such as that of protecting the environment and nature. I would like to thank the associations of the State Forestry Corps, the combatant associations and the civilian personnel, who work every day with commitment and professionalism. I extend my best wishes for good work to General Fabrizio Parrulli, heartfelt thanks to General Andrea Rispoli for the extraordinary results achieved, and my esteem to General Commander Luongo, a man of extraordinary ethical stature, with whom we will continue to work daily to strengthen the strategic role that the Force plays for Italy.".

The General Commander of the Carabinieri began by addressing “to the women and men in uniform responsible for the defense, protection and safeguarding of our forestry and environmental heritage, considered a unique heritage, envied by the whole world”. Gen. CA Salvatore Luongo, after having underlined how “the Government and the Institutions wanted to give the right emphasis to this specialty sector", he then highlighted "the fundamental importance that this High Command has in the organizational structure of the Force, which carries out delicate functions to protect the broader concept of security to protect the widespread interests of the community, or an activity that also develops at an international level through the Center of Excellence for Environmental Protection of Sabaudia, placed at the disposal of the United Nations for the training of environmental operators".

After having addressed a thank you to General Rispoli for his deep dedication and a wish to General Parrulli for his new assignment, a final reflection was dedicated to the new generations in uniform "Let us always remember to bet on young people, because for every Commander, knowing how to make the most of the creativity of their staff is the way to push ourselves and the Institution to increasingly ambitious goals. It is necessary to keep up with the times, enhancing our experience and our principles with the desire for modernity.".

During his farewell speech, General Rispoli, thanking all the staff for their dedication to work and the results achieved, recalled how passion, professionalism and technological innovation must be the qualifying factors of the action of the specialist sector, to best pursue the delicate mission assigned, of constitutional importance.

In turn General Parrulli expressed great satisfaction and enthusiasm for the prestigious assignment, highlighting how the personnel of the sector are precious custodians of the natural heritage and custodians of an exclusive sensitivity and wealth, to be dedicated to the protection of the territory and the community.
