Lodi: thefts of agricultural vehicles, gang busted by the Carabinieri.

A gang specializing in the theft of agricultural tractors was dismantled by the Carabinieri of the NOR Operations Section of the Lodi Company at the end of a complex investigation.
The investigative activity, conventionally called “Tractors 2023”, which began in the spring of 2023 when thefts from agricultural companies were recorded in various areas of the province, also affected the metropolitan city of Milano and the provinces of Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona and Monza and Brianza.

The gang, which has become the terror of farmers in Lodi and beyond, and is believed to be responsible for numerous raids that have caused concern in an entire sector, with repeated thefts of tractors and expensive machinery, is made up of several Romanian individuals, an Italian and a Moldovan, some of whom have specific criminal records.
According to investigators, the suspects are held responsible for as many as 37 thefts committed between February 2023 and February 2024, specifically with the subtraction of 27 vehicles with a total value exceeding one million euros and of which 17 were recovered (with an estimated value of approximately €470 thousand) as well as other vehicles and building materials.

After in-depth investigations, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Lodi and conducted through the use of technical tools but, above all, through the so-called "traditional methods" such as the execution of numerous observation services, the GIP of the Court of the capital has issued an order implementing the precautionary measure of custody in prison against four suspects.

The criminal group's methods were recurrent: after having identified the targets to be hit with meticulous inspections in order to verify the presence "on site" of any dangers such as video surveillance cameras, private security or police checkpoints, they proceeded to remove the agricultural vehicle and place it in abandoned farmhouses to then recover and transfer, at a later time, what was stolen abroad using articulated trucks.

In fact, a member of the gang had already been arrested last December in Cernusco sul Naviglio (MI) while he was moving a mechanical shovel previously stolen in Peschiera Borromeo (MI).
