A man of Romanian origin was captured in Montanaso Lombardo, the recipient of a European Arrest Warrant issued by a French court and currently awaiting a decision by the Court of Appeal on his extradition. An Italian citizen residing in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano was also arrested, definitively sentenced to more than 7 years of imprisonment for serious crimes

I Carabinieri of Lodi they arrested two people who were the recipients of measures from the Judicial Authority.
- The first, a 51 year old of Romanian origin with a police record, was the recipient of a MAE (Acronym for European arrest warrant), issued last September by the Court of Nancy (French) and internationalized this month, for the crime of criminal association aimed at tobacco smuggling committed between the transalpine country and Italy in the spring of 2023.
The investigations carried out by the French authorities have brought to light the role of the arrested person as an organiser of the trafficking and have allowed the seizure, in France, of over 8 tons of counterfeit cigarettes of a well-known brand.
The man, traced in Montanaso Lombardo (LO), it was conducted to the Lodi prison waiting for the Court of Appeal to Milano express his opinion on the extradition request.
- The second person arrested is, instead, a 32 year old Italian resident in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano on which hung a execution order for imprisonment, which became definitive following the rejection of the appeal presented to the Court of Cassation.
The man was definitively sentenced to 7 and a half years of imprisonment for the crimes of mistreatment against family members or cohabitants e sexual violence committed between 2017 and 2020. In this case too, the person concerned was taken to the Lodi prison.
