Rionero in Vulture: from escape to arrest, 32-year-old caught with cocaine and hashish, arrested.

The Carabinieri of the Rionero in Vulture Station, assisted by those of the Radiomobile Unit of the Melfi Company, have struck yet another blow to drug dealing in the Vulture Melfese area.
The operation, the result of constant surveillance and control of the territory carried out by the military of the Arma throughout the province, took place following the targeted observation activity on a car that, immediately, aroused the suspicions of the men of the Benemerita.

Intercepted by the patrol of the Rionero Station, the car, a small car, attempted to escape, triggering a brief chase.

The driver, a 32-year-old local, once stopped, still tried to escape control by resisting. An attempt that fell on deaf ears thanks to the promptness of the Rionero military, who in the meantime had been joined by those of Melfi, who finally stopped him.

After being stopped, the man was subjected to a personal and vehicle search during which the Carabinieri found and seized approximately 27 grams of cocaine already divided into doses, 8 grams of hashish, a precision scale, material for packaging the drug and the sum of €570, considered the probable proceeds of drug dealing.

The man was then arrested on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing and, by order of the Potenza Judicial Authority, taken to house arrest.
Yesterday, the Preliminary Investigations Judge of Potenza validated the arrest made by the Carabinieri, ordering the young man, for whom the presumption of innocence applies until a final conviction, to be placed under house arrest.
This further result represents an important signal in the fight against the phenomenon of drug dealing, always at the centre of the investigative work of the men of the Arma as well as of their widespread control of the territory aimed at protecting citizens and in the fight against every form of illegality.
