During the night between Thursday and Friday last, in Rapolla, i Carabinieri of the local Station, assisted by the Carabinieri Canine Unit of Tito, during specific activities aimed at repression of traffic narcotics, they carried out a brilliant operation with the seizure of a considerable quantity of drugs and the arrest of a ragazzo of the place already subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest.

During the operations, having arrived at the man's home, in order to carry out the ritual checks, the attention of the military personnel of the Arma was attracted by the sudden Alert of the four-legged colleague "Neri", a splendid specimen of German Shepherd trained in research and discovery of narcotic substances. The military immediately realized that it had been smelled something and followed him as he walked inside the house, carrying out a house search.

The results of the police activity were decidedly positive as they were found 753 grams of hashish, 68 grams of cocaine, 1 precision scale and the sum of €3.865,00 in cash..

Drugs, materials and money were subjected to seizure while the young man was declared in a state of arrest and, at the end of the ritual formalities, transferred to the Melfi prison as ordered by the Potenza Judicial Authority.

This morning, the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the local Court validated the arrest made by the Carabinieri, placing the suspect—who, it is recalled, is presumed innocent until a final conviction—in prison custody.

The significant operational result achieved, the fruit of constant and careful surveillance of the territory, represents a tangible demonstration of the continuous and unceasing commitment of the Carabinieri of the Potenza Provincial Command to upholding the law and safeguarding public safety.
