Potenza: Fight over a parking space between truck drivers ends in stabbing, one arrested on charges of attempted murder

The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Unit of the Potenza Company intervened in the industrial area of ​​the city following the signal received by the Single Emergency Number 112 in which a citizen reported a violent fight in progress between two truck drivers. Once on site, the military personnel of the Arma they found a man lying on the ground with clear signs of aggression and numerous blood stains. The immediate investigations allowed us to reconstruct the dynamics of the facts: the victim, a 50-year-old of Calabrian origin, and a 52-year-old from Potenza, both truck drivers, had an altercation over trivial reasons related to the parking of heavy vehicles. The argument degenerated when the attacker pulled out a switchblade, with a 20 cm blade, repeatedly hitting the other man in the abdomen.

The victim was immediately rescued and transported in red code to the San Carlo hospital in Potenza, where he was declared out of danger of life after the intervention of the paramedics. Meantime, the attacker was declared under arrest on charges of attempted murder and taken to the Potenza prison, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. The arrest was then validated by the Preliminary Investigations Judge of the Court of Potenza who ordered the pre-trial detention in prison for the suspect.

The timely intervention of the Carabinieri, made possible by the precious collaboration of the citizen who alerted 112, allowed us to avoid much more serious consequences and to bring to justice the person responsible for this act of violence.. Citizens' collaboration in promptly reporting dangerous situations is confirmed, once again, to be fundamental to guarantee a rapid, effective and decisive intervention by the Police Forces. This synergy, as underlined by the top management of the Provincial Carabinieri Command of Potenza, is fundamental to allow the prompt response of the Carabinieri which, with all the Police Forces, is daily engaged on the front line to protect the safety of citizens.
