Potenza: arrests for domestic violence and attempted murder.

I Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Potenza, thanks to their knowledge of the territory, their constant presence and the speed of their intervention, they managed two serious episodes of violence, culminating in the arrest of two people for abuse in the family e attempted murder.

First episode: assault in Melfi

Late Friday evening, a Melfi, a man of requested the intervention of the Unique Emergency Number 112, reporting an attack on the mother by her younger brother, who had hit her with a knife, leaving her bleeding with a wound on her wrist.

I Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Nucleus intervened immediately, blocking the alleged attacker and seizing the weapon used. The elderly woman, injured and visibly frightened, was rescued and accompanied to the Melfi Emergency Room.

The investigations have highlighted that the attack took place in a context of previous episodes of violence, already reported by the victim. In application of the Red Code, the man was arrested and taken to the Melfi County Jail.

Il GIP of the Court of Potenza validated the arrest, ordering the pre-trial detention in prison and the subjection of the suspect to a psychiatric assessment.

Second episode: attempted murder in the Lucanian Dolomites

Saturday afternoon, in the Lucanian Dolomites, a man of he presented himself to the Carabinieri with a visible head wound. Before losing consciousness, he managed to say that he had been hit by an acquaintance, who had subsequently driven away on board a pickup.

After alerting the health workers and providing first aid, the Carabinieri issued a note for the searches. Thanks to the collaboration of the Forestry Carabinieri, the attacker, a man of , was tracked down in a wooded area and stopped while he was in his pick-up truck, still in possession of the iron bar used for aggression.

Reconstruction and consequences

The immediate investigative activity allowed us to reconstruct what happened: a trivial argument it has degenerated into an act of brutal violence, which caused the victim a Traumatic Brain Injurya whirlpool bath, scapular fracture and different lacerated-contused wounds.

The victim, declared out of danger of life by the doctors of theSan Carlo Hospital of Potenza, provided key evidence for the arrest of the attacker.

After the ritual formalities, the man was taken to the Potenza County Jail. Again, the GIP of the Court of Potenza validated the arrest, ordering the pre-trial detention in prison.

I Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Potenza, following these serious episodes, reiterated the importance of turning promptly and with confidence to the Unique Emergency Number 112 or to the Carabinieri headquarters present in the territory, committed on a daily basis to guaranteeing safety and protection to citizens.
