Melfi: Brawl at the Extraordinary Reception Center, Carabinieri arrest 9 people

Last weekend, at Melfi, the Carabinieri of the local Company intervened at a Reception Centre Overtime of the place for a brawl which involved several guests of the facility. At the end of the intervention well 9 non-EU citizens were identified and arrested by the military of the Arma.

In particular, on Saturday evening a communication arrived at the Single Emergency Number 112 reporting a violent quarrel among guests of a reception facility in Melfi.

The Carabinieri of the Operative and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Melfi Company and some patrols of the Stations under the Company's control engaged in ordinary territorial control services immediately went to the place, blocking all the people who they were hitting each other with sticks and bladed weapons and drawing 4 Egyptian citizens and 5 Bangladeshis arrested for brawling, aged between the 19 and the 31 years, guests of the facility.

The protagonists of the brawl then had to seek medical attention from the emergency room staff at Melfi hospital, and were discharged with a prognosis of 7 to 10 days.

The reasons behind the violent fight were futile.

At the end of the formal procedures, the arrested were taken to the prisons of Melfi, Potenza and Matera, at the disposal of the Potenza Judicial Authority.

The GIP of the Court of Potenza then validated the arrests ordering that the defendants, for whom the principle of presumption of innocence applies until a final conviction, be held in prison.
