Potenza: 44-year-old arrested on drug charges, seizures in the historic center.

The intense activity of combating drug trafficking and dealing, set up by the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Potenza, with particular attention to the historic center of the Lucanian capital.

In this operational context, during specific preventive services, the Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Potenza Company have arrested a 44-year-old resident in the province and domiciled in an alley adjacent to the central Pretoria Street.

The service, which was also attended by Carabinieri Canine Unit of Tito with specialized units, made it possible to identify the man who, at the sight of a patrol in the same color as the Institute, showed a attitude of immediate and obvious nervousness, attempting to evade a potential check. The immediate halt imposed by the military led to the identification of the individual, whose conduct strengthened the officers' conviction of the need to proceed further.

Subsequent investigations, carried out with the help of canine units, led to the discovery and seizure of approximately 65 grams of hashish and 17 grams of cocaine, as well as the cash sum of 850 euros, considered to be the proceeds of the illegal activity, together with various materials for packaging and an precision balance.

The subject, taken to the Carabinieri offices in Via Pretoria, was declared under arrest and subsequently associated with the Potenza County Jail, available to the Judicial Authority.

The validation hearing was held before the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Potenza, which validated the arrest made by the Carabinieri and ordered, against the man – presumed innocent until final sentence – the application of the precautionary measure of house arrest.
