In the framework of the continuous and massive activities to combat drug trafficking and dealing, arranged by Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Potenza, the military of the Arma have achieved a further operational result in the capital of Basilicata. Late last Sunday evening, a patrol of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Potenza Company, during a territorial control service in one of the main streets of the city centre, noticed a person on foot with an attitude deemed suspicious.
The individual, at the sight of the company car, he showed signs of nervousness and accelerated his pace in an attempt to move awayThe military promptly proceeded to arrest and identify the subject. Based on the evidence collected, an investigation was carried out personal search, then extended to his home. This operation allowed us to found and seized two cellophane packages containing hashish, for a total weight of approximately 200 grams, a smooth-bladed knife with residues of the same substance and a precision scale.
The subject was declared in state of arrest for possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing. Conducted at the Command offices, the arrest was immediately communicated to theJudicial Authority of Potenza, who arranged for the transfer of the suspect to the County Prison of the capital.
Subsequently, the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Potenza validated the arrest and applied against the suspect, for which the presumption of innocence applies until a final conviction is reached, precautionary measure of custody in prison. The Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Potenza reiterates that the fight against illicit drug trafficking remains one absolute priority for the Army, within the broader mission of protection of legality and public safety.
