Potenza: Cohabitant threatens and assaults partner, arrested.

Il Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Potenza reiterates its full commitment to combating domestic violence, an area that often conceals episodes of serious harassment and threats, sometimes even in the presence of minors. This is what happened two days ago, in a municipality near the capital, after a request for help was received by the Unique Emergency Number 112 by a woman of foreign origin, exasperated by her partner's abusive behavior. This behavior was put to an end thanks to the timely intervention of the Carabinieri.

The local station's officers arrived at the victim's home and found her in a state of profound distress, accompanied by her young son. On the other side, her partner, a 40-year-old compatriot, visibly agitated. According to what the woman told the Carabinieri, it was yet another episode of insults, denigration, and physical assault, which occurred in front of the child. The arrival of the police put an end to the incident.

After receiving first aid, the victim was taken to the Carabinieri offices, where he reconstructed the events, allowing the Carabinieri to ascertain that the incident was not an isolated one, but part of a series of behaviors that had been going on for some time.

The man was arrested for the mistreatment committed against his partner and placed under house arrest, as ordered by thePotenza Judicial Authority, at his own home, from which his partner and son had in the meantime left.

The arrest was later validated by theGIP Office of the Local Court, who applied the precautionary measure of prohibition of approach and communication with the injured party.

The Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Potenza renew their recommendation to citizens: from the first signs of danger or fear, it is essential to contact the Unique Emergency Number 112 or to the Carabinieri headquarters, in the knowledge that they will be listened to by qualified and trained military personnel to manage such delicate circumstances.
