Among the numerous calls received at the Unique Emergency Number 112, one in particular stood out for its severity: a woman's son, a victim of assaults and threats, asked for help to stop yet another episode of violence inside her home.

The young man's prompt request allowed the military to Carabinieri Company of Melfi to coordinate an urgent intervention at Ruvo del Monte, culminating in the arrest of the husband, 40-year-old of foreign origins, held responsible for the crime of mistreatment against family members and cohabitants.

The men of the Stations of Ruvo del Monte e atella, alerted by the Operations Centre, quickly arrived at the couple's home.

According to what was immediately ascertained, the man had physically assaulted his wife, his compatriot, at the end of a violent argument that broke out over trivial matters and occurred in the presence of their two minor children.

The investigations revealed that the attack it did not represent an isolated episode, but it was part of a framework of harassing conduct that the woman had allegedly suffered over the last two years.

Some incidents had already been reported and were the subject of ongoing criminal proceedings.

In light of the situation, the procedures provided for by the "Code Red", aimed at urgent protection of victims of domestic and gender-based violence.

Once the formalities were completed, the 40-year-old was taken to the Melfi County Jail, available to the Judicial Authority.

During the hearing, the GIP of the Court of Potenza validated the arrest and ordered the pre-trial detention in prison.
