On the occasion of 'Confartigianato Imprese Assembly 2023, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, recorded and made public a video message.
"Good morning everyone,
I want to thank the President Marco Granelli for the invitation. I greet all the members, entrepreneurs and artisans present today atConciliazione Auditorium for the 2023 Assembly of Confartigianato Imprese. I am very sorry that I was not able to participate in your work in person, as I was able to do last year, I would also have liked to wish President Granelli a happy birthday in person, but in any case I wanted to do have my contribution to the respect that the Government has towards you, towards those who roll up their sleeves every day and consider their business, their business, as part of something bigger", the Premier begins by greeting the participants.
“I also wanted to reflect with you on some crucial challenges that the society in which we live places before each of us, in particular those like you who do business.
One of these challenges is certainly the impact that thetechnological evolution, artificial intelligence, ecological transition they are having, and will have more and more, on our daily lives, including on our way of producing. And the first question we must ask ourselves is to understand how to seize the opportunities that these changes offer, without passively suffering them, but instead being protagonists. I know well that Confartigianato, the world of craftsmanship as a whole, is very clear about how important this challenge is. It is an awareness that derives from the excellence of our productions, from the strength of our roots, from the solidity of our tradition which has always been capable of combining with innovation. In short, that all-Italian uniqueness that no artificial intelligence will ever be able to replace and perhaps not even equal", goes on, “Since our establishment we have been working, step by step, to enhance this heritage, to put those who produce at the centre, to ensure that the State is finally an ally of those who create wealth and jobs. We have launched the tax reform that Italy has been waiting for for decades which has some basic objectives: to mainly reduce the tax pressure and rebalancing the relationship between tax authorities and taxpayers. We are rapidly approving the implementing decrees and among the most innovative rules we have introduced is that relating to the biennial preventive agreement for smaller taxpayers with business income and self-employment, a possibility which - as you know very well - until now it was precluded from these cases", adds the Premier.
“We then chose to put more money in the paycheck and support new employment. With this maneuver we have confirmed the cut in the contribution wedge for employees with an income of up to 35 thousand euros, we have introduced that principle that is so dear to us and can be summed up with “The more you hire, the less you pay”, i.e. a super deduction of 120% of the cost of labor for companies that hire on permanent contracts and increase their employees compared to the previous year. Super deduction that reaches 130% if you hire mothers, young people, disabled people or former recipients of citizen's income. This work is accompanied by the commitment to address the misalignment of skills between job supply and demand, now an emergency for our businesses, a topic dear to Confartigianato. As you know, we are paying maximum attention to this the Made in Italy bill and the birth of the Made in Italy high school that the bill provides for are some of the answers we intend to give to the productive world to meet these needs. Concrete measures to solve equally real problems, without obviously forgetting the major systemic reforms that Italy has been waiting for for too long and which we are carrying out to leave to those who come after us a better Italy than the one we were given. Starting – I want to quote it – from reform of our institutional architecture. Some might think that talking to the craftsmen about the Constitution is a little off topic, but I think it is not at all. Why ensure continuity, ensure governments elected by citizens, stable governments with a legislative horizon, is ultimately the most powerful economic measure that can be given to Italy. We have paid heavily for political instability, it prevents us from carrying forward long-term projects, from having a strategy, from giving substance to a precise vision of development which is the precondition for not squandering resources. And Italy, which has not seen all this over the years, has paid too much for the consequences of its system."
The video message concludes with a wish and an incitement to change: “It's time to change, and give the nation more stable, more efficient, faster institutions. This is our goal and I am sure that in this challenge we will always have at our side those, such as artisans and entrepreneurs, who know what it means to make investments and plan for the future. Thank you, thank you for what you represent, thank you for what you do, thank you for the contributions you have so often brought to the discussion with the Government and we will soon have new opportunities to see each other", declares Meloni at the end of the video message.
