The IV Conference of Agencies for the Internationalization of Higher Education was opened by a speech by Undersecretary Tripodi. “The economic impact of international students” was the central theme addressed by those present. During his speech, Tripodi highlighted the government's objective.
The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Maria Tripodi he opened the IV Conference of Agencies for the Internationalization of Higher Education.
The Conference was held at the Farnesina and was organized by the Uni-Italia Association with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. During the IV Conference the topic was central and addressed “The economic impact of international students.” Undersecretary Tripodi, during his speech, reminded the huge economic returns resulting from the attraction of international students and researchers and reiterated theobjective of the Government to create Italian universities “places of training for future Italian-speaking and Italophile international ruling classes”.
“We work together to support the internationalization processes of our universities and provide more and more mobility opportunities abroad for students and researchers” Tripodi underlined, highlighting how this initiative testifies “the determination of the Italian Government and the Italian system as a whole in pursuing these fundamental objectives”.
During the Conference, which was attended by representatives of higher education internationalization bodies from numerous partner countries, as well as Italian universities and academies, the President of the Uni-Italia Association, Prof. Francesco Profumo, also presented the first study on the economic impact of international students in Italy, which examined the spending habits and related activities of the international student segment for our country.
