The "migrants" law decree approved by the Council of Ministers, signed by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella
“Urgent provisions regarding the legal entry flows of foreign workers and the prevention and fight against irregular immigration”
The President of the Republic signed the decree approved by the Council of Ministers.
The law decree on migrants was issued by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, who authorized the presentation of the relevant conversion bill to the Chambers.
"Durgent provisions regarding the legal entry flows of foreign workers and the prevention and fight against irregular immigration”, this is the title of the provision which was published in the Official Journal.
The legislative decree approved on Thursday in Cutro's Council of Ministers, consists of 12 articles, divided into two chapters: "Provisions regarding legal entry flows and permanence of foreign workers" and "Provisions regarding the prevention and fight against irregular immigration".
The provision also contains the other measures already illustrated on Thursday, from the flow decree which becomes three-yearly to the tightening of penalties for smugglers, from the crackdown on the management of migrant centers to the strengthening of the network of repatriation centres.
Among the various regulations, the revocation of the special protection for the family ties of the asylum seeker.
In article 7, the decree cancels the impossibility of expelling a person "if there are well-founded reasons to believe that removal from the national territory entails a violation of the right to respect for private and family life".
The Prime Minister, expected in Montecitorio on March 15th for Question time, in the decree against illegal immigration, already promulgated by the Head of State summarizes the most important measures in a Tweet.
"Penalties of up to 30 years for smugglers", "simplified procedures for expulsions", "orderly management of regular flows". Furthermore, the post states "the decree law approved by the Council of Ministers reaffirms our determination to defeat human traffickers, fight illegal immigration, stop deaths at sea".
Before Giorgia Meloni, the deputy prime minister - leader of the League - Matteo Salvini had also commented on the legislation "penalties of up to 30 years for smugglers, cooperation with the countries of departure to stop illegal flows, more efficient structures, greater protection for real refugees, rapid expulsions for those who cannot stay in Italy".
The majority continues to insist on the Government's unity in its hard line against smugglers and illegal migrants.
Within the coalition "we proceed with great harmony" points out the Minister of Business, Adolfo Urso and adds "Conte made the measures unless agreed, Draghi made the measures which then often in the Council of Ministers some Ministers did not vote or abstained. Here we have a government that is finally united."
But even the opposition appears united in attacking the new decree.
Tale, for the 5 Stars, he says “ I suggest President Meloni see an extract of her Cutro conference. He would realize that it is not the requests or clarifications, but his confusion that tarnishes the image of our country".
From the PD Gianni Cuperlo" he can't save a boat with over 100 people stranded on the shore" - he says - "but he thinks he can arrest smugglers all over the globe".
Calenda, Third Pole: “something is wrong, no one has explained what happened to Cutro".
