The meeting between Mattarella, the president of Portugal and the king of Spain in Palermo

The Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the King of Spain Philip VI are visiting Palermo.
Today they will participate in a Cotec symposium, where a speech by the European Commissioner for the Economy is also expected, Paul Gentiloni.

First stop was the Cathedral in Corso Vittorio Emanuele to admire the beauty of the church and the tomb of Frederick II. Then to Piazza Vigliena, known in Palermo as the Quattro Canti, where there are statues of the Spanish monarchs Charles V, Philip II, Philip III and Philip IV.

Accompanying the guests on the visit are the governor Renato Schifani, the president of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, Gaetano Galvagno, and the mayor Roberto Lagalla.

'Telling' the city to Presidents Mattarella and Rebelo de Sousa and to King Philip VI are Professor Maurizio Carta, professor of urban planning at the University of Palermo and municipal councilor with responsibility for the historic centre, and the superintendent for cultural and environmental heritage of the city, Selima Giuliano.
