The Minister of the Interior Piantedosi with the Libyan and Tunisian Minister of the Interior: a strong friendship with the common Mediterranean belonging
Interior Minister Piantedosi met the Libyan and Tunisian Interior Ministers at the Interior Ministry.
Today it was held at The meeting of the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi at the Interior Ministry with the Libyan Interior Minister Imad Mustafa Trabelsi and the Tunisian Interior Minister Kamel Fekih. At the opening of the fruitful meeting, Minister Piantedosi underlined the strong friendship and common Mediterranean belonging that binds the three countries, and thanked his counterparts for "the incessant commitment to preventing irregular departures".
Minister Piantedosi stated that “Today's meeting arises from the will shared at our recent meeting in Palermo, and represents the first appointment to start a structured dialogue, in an innovative format”.
“Our three countries – continues the owner of the Interior Ministry – they are at the forefront in managing transnational challenges that are of crucial importance for the stability of the Mediterranean region. Migration is an emergency that not only concerns our countries but concerns the entire European Union with which the cooperation relationship must be strengthened.
The main objective remains that of targeting traffickers, through a joint commitment and the strengthening of the information-investigative exchange on migratory flows. In addition to the fight against human trafficking, an action is necessary to implement and strengthen voluntary repatriations assisted by Libya and Tunisia to the countries of origin, through the establishment of a joint control room to monitor the activities" Minister Piantedosi concluded.
