Emilia Romagna Region approves request for referendum against differentiated autonomy

The Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region has approved the request for a referendum to repeal the Calderoli law on differentiated autonomy.

"With a 24-hour marathon in the Chamber to overcome the obstructionism of the right- underlines the President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini- the Legislative Assembly of our Region, after that of Campania on Monday, has just voted on two referendum questions to cancel the wrong and divisive proposal of the Government and, secondarily, to establish that before devolving any function, Parliament and the Government must define and finance the Essential Levels of Performance for the entire Country”. Green light from the Chamber “on the joint initiative of PD, Europa verde, Emilia-Romagna coraggiosa, Italia viva, Lista Bonaccini presidente and Movimento 5 stelle".

"Emilia-Romagna has always supported any decentralization process that brought decisions closer to citizens and territories- continues Bonaccini- but within a clear framework of Italian unity and within a logic of solidarity and equal rights. The Calderoli law, which does not set a euro six Lep (essential levels of performance) and instead provides that in many subjects it is possible to proceed with differentiated autonomy without any guarantee of territorial equity, risks further dividing the country on essential pillars such as healthcare and education. This is why it must be cancelled."

"After Emilia-Romagna and Campania, in the coming weeks the other Regions will also be called to express their opinion and Tuscany, Puglia and Sardinia have already announced their adhesion to this initiative. With the vote of five Regional Councils- the President of the Region closes- it will therefore be possible to ask for the referendum to be called, similarly to what the National Promotion Committee already did last week in Rome".La Regione Emilia Romagna approva la richiesta di referendum contro l'autonomia differenziata
