Tajani on the law for differentiated autonomy

"Constitutional Court confirms, international trade does not provide for delegations".

Tajani on the law for differentiated autonomy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani he expressed strong satisfaction for the Constitutional Court ruling no. 192/2024 on the constitutional issues relating to the law on differentiated autonomy.

"There cannot be delegations to the Regions on international trade within the scope of differentiated autonomy. Italy must give a single and coherent image of itself abroad and on international markets. A differentiation on a territorial basis of our policies on foreign trade would be harmful for our country" declared the Minister Antonio Tajani.

"I had exposed the issue in an official letter to Minister Calderoli last September. My observations proved to be well-founded and were confirmed in today's ruling by the Constitutional Court. This will in no way prejudice the reform process in which the Government is engaged" continued the Vice President of the Council, adding that "foreign trade has a strategic importance for the Italian economy, our export chains are deeply integrated at national and European level and therefore the action of the public administration in support of our businesses must be coherent, effective and coordinated". Such actions must be part of a framework of national coordination to increase resource efficiency by avoiding duplication and enabling essential action rebalancing territorial disparities.

“In promoting international trade, regional perspectives are and will be fully integrated. This is precisely why I decided to convene a Milano the second National Conference on export on December 18th, on the occasion of the Conference of Italian Ambassadors, also involving the Lombardy Region”, concluded the Minister.
