Tajani in Jerusalem and Ramallah to meet Netanyahu, Katz and Mustafa
The Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, is on a mission in Israel and Palestine to meet the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, the Foreign Minister Katz and the Palestinian Prime Minister Mustafa.
During the talks Tajani will reiterate Italy's commitment to peace, asking for a immediate ceasefire and release of hostages, in light of the recent disappearance of the Hamas leader who could influence the negotiations on Gaza. Tajani will ask Israeli institutions to immediately facilitate a increased influx of food and medical supplies to Gaza through border crossings. It will also underline Italy's support for the solution "Two peoples – two states“, which has always been a priority objective of the Government in the Middle East.
Expressing deep concern about the impact of the conflict on the civilian population, the Minister will outline the humanitarian conference on the Middle East that The G21 will open in Pescara on Tuesday 7 October, whose aim is to proceed rapidly for the Humanitarian rehabilitation of Gaza and Lebanon. Precisely for this reason Tajani will reaffirm "the need to avoid an escalation in Lebanon, also to guarantee the safety and security of the Unifil contingents in the country".
