Sport, President Toti: “Great engine of economic development. Under Marassi management we will accompany Genoa and Samp at every stage of the journey."

"There is no doubt that sport, like culture and food and wine, is engine of great economic development, such as the creation of infrastructure and large manifestations sports. Then we have Genoa as the capital of sport for 2024 and Liguria which will be the European Region of sport in 2025, events that concretely move an entire world, starting from that of the many amateur associations behind which not only is there a piece of the economy of Country, but also the selection of those greats samples who make us proud with their victories. I want to thank Giovanni Malagò for being here today: not only is he a friend of Genoa and Liguria for a long time, but he presides over a Coni that has seen the Italian sport win like never before in recent history, or perhaps like never before in the general history of the country".

Thus the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti spoke at the lectio magistralis of the president of CONI Giovanni Malagò at the University of Genoa.

"As regards sports infrastructure - Toti then said - the Picco della Spezia stadium is being renovated: there has been an important investment by the Liguria Region, the club and the Municipality, and in a few weeks' time we will see it completed the third lot, which exceeds the 7 million euro investment. Overall on stadium over 12 million euros were invested. As regards the Marassi stadium, the two clubs that use it, Genoa and Sampdoria, they are talking and I believe they are already at an advanced stage of defining the management of the same. There is an interest that has already been communicated to the Municipality and Region to acquire that infrastructure, renovate it and make it one modern stadium, at the levels of the best in the world. We are very pleased about this and will obviously accompany them every step of the way."
