Romano Prodi: "there was a void in politics"
“Europe's role in the Mediterranean has steadily decreased over time”. He declared it Romano Prodi during his speech at the presentation of the 'Master in European Union Studies: Cultures and History, Policies and Global Perspectives' of the UNINETTUNO online university.
“Backbreaking political mistakes from the war in Iraq onwards have diminished European influence in the Mediterranean countries – he continued -, only common attention and policy can lead to concrete actions. These countries are influenced by non-European powers with great economic capabilities. It is no longer a mare nostrum, it is a mare lorum."
“There was a void in politics – added Prodi -. China and Russia, separately but harmoniously, have taken over Europe's role. UNINETTUNO's initiative serves to create a ruling class indispensable to start a process that redefines the European role, managing the most urgent international crises, starting with immigration."
