Rome: Funari, inclusive suburbs projects “We would like to increase the possibilities of social inclusion”

The “Inclusive Suburbs” project has been launched, with the aim of improving the conditions and quality of life of people with disabilities and their families. The Department of Social Policies and Health of Rome Capital has promoted, with the resources of the Fund for Inclusive Suburbs of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - Minister for Disabilities, projects and activities for the inclusion of people with disabilities lasting 18 to 24 months, in suburban neighborhoods.

The number of people with disabilities involved is 285, the number of family members is 372 and 2190 are the indirect recipients called to be protagonists in the events held in the territory.

Many proposals for workshops and training courses: from gastronomy and catering to cosmetics, but also technology and digital literacy, social agriculture, seminars on art, theater and inclusive sports. The events will also be held in collaboration with students from schools in the affected neighborhoods. They are also planned psychological support interviews and orientation to employment services in the area.

“With these projects – he explains Councilor for Social Policies and Health Barbara Funari - We would like to increase the possibilities for social inclusion in peripheral areas and strengthen the level of autonomy of people with disabilities and at risk of isolation. We aim to create new opportunities for socialization and also support families with work programs and job grants, also linked to new technologies. An opportunity to also involve the local community and strengthen the culture of participation and equal opportunities”.
