Minister Eugenia Rocella presented the "pact for companies responsible for maternity" during the event "Motherhood (not) is a business" releasing some declarations on the matter.
During the event “Motherhood is (not) a business” was signed on “pact for companies responsible for maternity”, a proposal from the Ministry for Family, Birth and Equal Opportunities.
The pact was confirmed this morning at the Temple of Hadrian in Rome.
Minister Eugenia Rocella expressed her opinion regarding the project by declaring “We are here to propose an alliance because Italy and Europe have a problem: what consistency will the next generations have with respect to depopulation”.
"we have many fronts that open up and need to be covered, this government for the first time has put the issue of birth rate at the center, has put it at the center of the public debate, addressing it in a transversal and broader way, we are at year zero", he added during the presentation.
“We are not dirigistes, we do not believe in five-year plans, we believe in subsidiarity and we want to create a friendly environment for women and motherhood in the world of work. This is why we must value care work", stated Minister Eugenia Rocella, focusing with a few words on the content of the agreement.
The “pact for companies responsible for maternity” contains: "three fundamental points: support for returning to work after maternity, the health aspect such as fertility screening and then the most important, flexibility with an evaluation of the objectives and not just of presence at work".
