Pnrr, 129 million from the Ministry of Culture for seismic safety in 167 places of worship

The Ministry of Culture has allocated resources equal to 129,3 million euros for the adaptation and seismic safety in 167 places of worship and towers/bell towers, as part of the action line 1 of the investment 2.4: Seismic safety in places of worship, restoration of the cultural heritage of the FEC and shelter sites for works of art (Recovery Art), in implementation of the National Recovery Plan and Resilience.

The decree is signed by the General Secretary of the MiC, Mario Turetta and, at the moment, it is being registered by the supervisory bodies.

Also considering the assignments envisaged in two previous provisions, between June 2022 and December 2023, the new provision leads to The total resources allocated to action line 374,3 amounted to 1 million euros – Implementation of seismic adaptation interventions of places of worship, towers and bell towers of Investment 2.4: “Seismic safety in places of worship, restoration of the cultural heritage of the FEC and shelter sites for works of art (Recovery Art)”.

“This plan of new interventions, from North to South, allows us to continue to give substance to our protection and valorization projects. The tragic seismic events that have hit our nation in recent decades have also constituted a serious threat to our cultural heritage and in particular to those churches and bell towers which make up our artistic heritage. These are places of identity that bear witness to the culture and history of the territories and which attract tourists from all over the world. We have a duty not only to make them safe, but to make them an opportunity for socio-economic development", declares the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano.
