Planting himself in Buzet for the trilateral summit with his counterparts from Croatia and Slovenia.
The Minister of the Interior, Matteo Crying himself, went today to Buzetin Croatia, where the trilateral ministerial meeting with the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior was held Davor Bozinovic and the Slovenian Minister of the Interior Boštjan Poklukar.
«The trilateral format – declared the Minister Crying himself - it is an innovative initiative and constitutes a "model" of operational and strategic dialogue which continues to function and can be an impetus for more effective collaboration with other countries in the area.
In today's meeting we discussed and updated ourselves on the flow situation along the Balkan route. It emerged that the route in question remains an attractive route, not only for migrants, but also for people dangerous to national security, who can infiltrate criminal corridors already used for other illicit activities".
«On the Italian-Slovenian border - keep it going Crying himself - over 1600 irregular foreigners were traced upon entry (out of 160.000 people checked), of these over 900 were rejected. Again thanks to border controls, 76 people were arrested, of which 52 for aiding and abetting illegal immigration. Furthermore, with a view to preventing terrorism, of all the people checked, 44 have already been reported in the SIS (Schengen Information System) databases and are subject to surveillance".
«I remain convinced of the importance of the free movement of people – concluded the owner of the Interior Ministry -. Precisely for this reason we will continue to work for solutions that allow the restoration of free movement but, given the delicate international context, we must put in place adequate compensatory measures to guarantee the safety of our citizens and to combat, through coordinated and structured controls, criminal networks on Balkan route".
