Olbia, the restyling work of the city continues: here are the artistic shelters
Mayor Nizzi: "The works created by the two artists Gianluca Gelsomino and Paolo Decortes enhance the locations and convey an important message of safeguarding nature and respecting the environment"
Olbia, the municipal administration continues to pursue the objective of making Olbia an increasingly beautiful, livable and citizen-friendly city.
«These objectives are also achieved through the restyling interventions of the city, such as the one just carried out by Aspo and which concerns the shelters at the bus stops – states the mayor Settimo Nizzi –. The works created by the two artists Gianluca Gelsomino and Paolo Decortes, enhance the locations and convey an important message of safeguarding nature and respecting the environment."
«In this project we chose to have two works in dialogue that look at each other in the urban fabric and create an essential link with the naturalistic sense and environmental awareness to which all users are reminded – say the artists –. On the one hand we have the whale with the meanings that are linked to its image: conscience, emotional renewal and intellect, the growth of children, devotion to the community, appreciation for beauty, the relationship with music and dance, the importance of balance. On the other hand we find an object used to expose oneself and enjoy the marine world, but which if abandoned to nature, at the end of a sunny day, represents little beauty, little devotion to the community, the absence of intellect, a real danger of death for the whale and for everything it symbolically represents."
