New Card “Dedicated to You”. Government strengthens aid for families

Support the most fragile and difficult families in purchasing essential goods, such as spending on food, fuel or public transport passes. This is the objective of the Charter "Dedicated to you“, which the Meloni Government confirms again this year, strengthening the measure.

“This year the value of the card increases to 500 euros”, announced the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, during the press conference held at Palazzo Chigi. Together with Lollobrigida, the Minister of Labor and Social Policies also took part in the presentation, Marina Calderone, speaking via video link, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policies Maria Theresa Bellucci and the President of INPS Gabriele Fava.

The measure, introduced in 2023 by the Meloni Government, was reconfirmed in the 2024 Budget Law increasing the total resources dedicated in the two-year period to 1,2 billion euros. In addition to the increase in the amount of the single card, which rises from 459,70 to 500 euros, the overall number of assignable cards also grows, from 1.300.000 to 1.330.000.

Un “massive intervention” against social discomfort, declared Lollobrigida, underlining that “last year we had positive data, so we implemented the funds, the beneficiaries and the resources for the individuals who will receive the card”. In 2023, over 1,2 million families benefited. According to estimates, 96% of the resources were spent on food and 4% on fuel and public transport.

“The excellent results achieved by the 'Dedicated to You' social card in 2023 are testimony to what can be achieved thanks to technology and partnerships between ministries and with bodies such as INPS. In 2024 the card will be even more 'welcoming', a real service to families", declared Minister of Labor and Social Policies Marina Calderone.

The decree signed on 4 June, which initiates the measure, is from the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, in concert with the Minister of Business and Made in Italy, the Minister of Labor and Social Policies and the Minister of Economy and Finance. Poste Italiane, INPS, ANCI and Municipalities are involved in the implementation.

Starting from September, the beneficiaries will have the card available, which can be used at shops selling food and for the purchase of fuel, or alternatively public transport season tickets. The list of products that can be purchased has been expanded compared to 2023, also including DOP and IGP products, frozen vegetables, frozen baked goods, tuna and canned meat.

The criteria for identifying beneficiaries remain unchanged: families residing in Italy, of at least 3 people and with ISEE less than 15.000 euros, without other social inclusion contributions or poverty support. The Municipalities will communicate to the families identified, based on the verification of the INPS lists, informing them on how to collect the cards at the post offices.

“The Charter dedicated to you is a measure in line with INPS's idea of putting people at the center and supporting Parliament and Government in responding to new welfare needs throughout their life cycle”, declared the President of INPS Gabriel Fava. “In this project in collaboration with Masaf, ANCI and Poste Italiane”, Fava underlined, “INPS has identified the beneficiary audience, designed and developed the web application for the Municipalities, managed communication flows with the Post Office and Municipalities, guaranteed efficiency in procedures and reporting and, compared to last year, will carry out ex ante checks on the audience of beneficiaries and procedures. My presence today testifies to the full harmony with the Government and with Minister Lollobrigida".
