Ministerial meeting in Warsaw: Crosetto and the strategies for European defense
The ministerial meeting involving France, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom and Italy took place today, 13 January 2025. Representing the latter was the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, who reiterated the European intentions to strengthen national and Union defence in the future, in support of a solid and lasting peace.
The Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, participated in the five-party ministerial meeting with France, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom, which took place today in Warsaw.
“Defense spending is the guarantee for the survival of our democracies, our countries and Europe”. Thus the Minister Crosetto at the end of the meeting which, as he underlined, was an opportunity for a “a valuable discussion on common strategies to strengthen European defense, develop real and autonomous deterrent capacity and face the challenges of the future. The importance and strategic role of Europe was reaffirmed, as the second pillar of NATO, which continues to be the only true instrument for guaranteeing our security”.
“We need to take more responsibility, sharing vision and commitments in a concrete way, both in the strictly military field and in the industrial and technological sector of defense” added Crosetto.
Minister Crosetto, on Ukraine, confirmed “common commitment to create the necessary conditions for a just and lasting peace, as a guarantee of international law".
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, also spoke at the ministerial meeting via video conference.
