In addition to the 'classics' Laveno, Lario, Lomellina and Besanino also the 'Milano-Desenzano' and the 'Milano-Genoa'.
The initiative, now in its eighth edition, is promoted by the Department of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of the Lombardy Region in collaboration with the Fondazione Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and FS Treni Turistici Italiani.
"A very successful initiative – explains the regional councilor – which, thanks to the collaboration between the Lombardy Region and the FS Foundation, allows thousands of people every year to discover itineraries and landscapes of our region through an authentic journey through time, aboard trains that have made the history of the Italian railway. An innovative way to discover the charm of unique convoys, where finally getting on board becomes a pleasure to share, to appreciate enchanting places of our Lombardy".
The calendar this year includes 20 circulations. Among the main new features introduced compared to the past, 2 vintage train circulations on the route Milano – Brescia – Desenzano with departures scheduled for June 9th and September 1st, and from Milano in Genoa on July 14th and November 3rd with the ETR 252 'Arlecchino', the legendary electric train of the FS Foundation, symbol of Made in Italy and of the economic boom of the 60s.
Re-proposed, the most popular itineraries are:
-Laveno Express: from Milano discovering Lake Maggiore. Departures scheduled for Sunday 5 May, 2 June, 8 September;
-Lario Express from Milano and Monza to Como and Lecco. Departures scheduled for Sunday 12 May and 13 October;
-Sebino Express from Milano to Lake Iseo (Paratico). Departures scheduled for Sunday 19 May, 16 June, 15 September and 20 October;
-Lomellina Express from Milano in Mortara. Departures scheduled for Sunday 26 May and 29 September respectively on the occasion of the “Welcome to Lomellina” event and the Goose Salami Festival.
– Besanino Express from Milano for Besana, Molteno and Lecco. Departures scheduled for Sunday 22 September and 27 October;
Finally, two historic trains are planned on the itinerary Milano – Chiavenna (Sunday 23 June) and between Milano and Cremona (Sunday 17 November, for the Torrone Festival).
On historic trains it will always be possible to transport your bicycle on board for free using specially equipped luggage compartments.
Tickets to travel on historic trains can be purchased on all Trenitalia sales channels, ticket offices, apps and the official website. Children up to 14 years travel for free.

To support the activities to enhance the historical heritage of the railway, as per the service contract, Lombardy Region makes 600.000 euros available every year. Of this budget, approximately 300.000 euros are allocated to historic trains, operated by the Fs Foundation.
