Memorandum of understanding between the Department of Public Security, Central Directorate of the Criminal Police and EURISPES – institute of political, economic and social studies
It was signed on 22 April, at the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police, a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Public Security - Central Directorate of the Criminal Police and Eurispes - Institute of Political, Economic and Social Studies for the promotion of joint initiatives in the field of criminal analysis.
The agreement follows a previous three-year protocol agreement, signed in February 2021, aimed at encouraging, within the scope of their respective competences, the acquisition, exchange and analysis of anonymous data and information relating to criminal phenomenologies, the promotion of cultural and training activities and editorial initiatives as well as participation reciprocal at thematic in-depth meetings such as conferences, seminars and the like.
In consideration of the positive results obtained from the project, the Deputy Director General of Public Security-Central Director of the Criminal Police Prefect Raffaele Grassi and the President of Eurispes prof Gian Maria Fara have signed the new protocol, also lasting three years, with the aim of strengthening the already fruitful collaboration between the two organisations.
The event was introduced by a greeting and presentation of the initiative by the Director of the Criminal Analysis Service - Senior Director of the State Police Dr. Stefano Delfini.
Il Prefect Grassi underlined that the institutional collaboration with Eurispes is particularly valuable because allows you to enrich the information assets of the Central Management and explore issues to which the Institute has always shown significant attention, also adding that "dialogue and interaction with research environments are always functional to the prevention and combating of criminal phenomena carried out by the Police Force".
Il President of Eurispes, Gian Maria Fara, he wanted to underline “the increasingly important role played by the sharing of skills and the exchange of knowledge between entities belonging to all the branches of the Institutions and Research Centers operating in the private sector. We can define it as ahappy union” which gives rise to a particular ability to apply a dual and ambivalent reading in the observation of social and deviant phenomena. A preparatory path to arrive, as scholars and in a dialectical perspective, at a synthesis of the results. The work carried out so far by our Institute, thanks to the constant and effective collaboration with the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police, has already borne fruit, not only in terms of enriching the shared wealth of information but also in the identification of new and innovative paths of research such as that which concerned the difference between crime read through official statistics and the perception of the citizen, often distorted by information not conveyed correctly. The hope is to continue by opening together other paths and new scenarios, deepening the investigation of the phenomena that today make up a more complex, stratified and multifaceted reality".
The signing of the Protocol was attended by a delegation from Eurispes composed of the Secretary General Marco Ricceri, the lawyer. Roberto De Vita, the Deputy Director Raffaella Saso and the Communications Manager Susanna Fara.
