Meloni: «All drugs are bad, they destroy people's lives»

Statement by the Prime Minister on the occasion of World Drug Day

Meloni: «All drugs are harmful, they destroy people's lives».

«The fight against drugs and pathological addictions is an absolute priority of this Government. Since we took office, we have been working, with perseverance and determination, to reiterate some clear messages that have been forgotten for too long: drugs destroy people's lives and make them slaves and submissives; all drugs are harmful, without distinction, and to claim the opposite is a deception, which particularly affects the young generations; the Government and the institutions, at every level, must not look the other way but do everything in their power to combat drug trafficking and dealing, invest in prevention and support public services and therapeutic communities in their irreplaceable action of care and recovery". The Prime Minister declared this on the occasion of the World Anti-Drug Day.

«The Government has focused on prevention, has promoted various communication campaigns such as the one underway these days on RAI, Italy is among the first nations in Europe to activate a 360-degree plan against the spread of fentanyl and has activated new tools to finance interventions in this area, such as the possibility given to citizens to allocate the 8xXNUMX of the IRPEF to direct state management. We have a lot of work to do before us to address an emergency that has been ignored or underestimated for too long, but the change of pace is there and we are at the forefront to consolidate it and make it structural, with teamwork between the Anti-Drug Policies Department, Ser. D., scientific communities and societies", concludes Meloni.
