Marche: region-MIT agreement for works on the citadel of Ancona
Baldelli: "Another 4 million euros for the Citadel: the work of valorising the historical-cultural identity of Ancona and the Marche continues with the recovery of the most beautiful identity symbols"
Marche: region-MIT agreement for works on the citadel of Ancona
“Let's put the resources we have intercepted for the protection and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Marche on the ground, and continue along the path of redevelopment of a place that is a symbol of the historical-cultural identity of Ancona, which we want to restore to its original beauty and make available available to citizens and tourists visiting our regional capital".
This is the comment of the regional councilor for Infrastructure and Public Works Francesco Baldelli following the approval of the scheme by the Council agreement between the Marche Region and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to regulate the state funding that the Marche Region has intercepted for the implementation of the intervention "Rocca della Cittadella of Ancona – Restoration intervention with seismic improvement".
“The restoration and recovery of the Citadel – recalls councilor Baldelli – was among the interventions on properties of artistic, historical, archaeological or ethno-anthropological interest admitted to state funding. Specifically, we are talking about approximately 4 million euros of resources for the seismic adaptation of an important section of the fortress, which allow us to continue the rehabilitation and relaunch work of the complex. I remember, in fact, that the Acquaroli Council has already made resources available for 3 million euros with the recovery and restoration works of the curtain walls and consolidation of the Gregorian Bastion, using development and cohesion funds 2014-20".
In fact, a project is already underway recovery and restoration intervention of the curtain walls including the consolidation of the Bastione del Cavaliere a Basso, known as Gregoriano - one of the five bastions that distinguish the structure - and the reconstruction of a portion of the exedra wall in front of building A of the complex, currently home to the Adriatic-Ionian secretariat.
The ministerial resources intercepted allow the carrying out of structural and finishing works with reference to the building located on the north side of the fortress consisting of four main bodies as well as underground tunnels, surrounding walls and appurtenant areas: interventions will be carried out on the sub-foundations, restoration operations of the damage to the walls, replacement of the degraded wooden elements, in particular those of the floors, consolidation interventions of the architraves and the creation of external flooring with rainwater regulation as well as the replacement of fixtures and the redoing of paint and internal systems.
“The Agreement with MIT – concludes Councilor Baldelli – it is an important stage on the path that will lead to the full recovery of this sixteenth century fortress, which from being one of the symbols of the profile of the capital has ended up in oblivion, almost indistinct in the confused bush that appears to the view when looking at the Astagno hill . The recovery of the historic building heritage, in addition to allowing the transmission of values between generations, plays a central role in the regeneration processes of our cities and villages. A path made of concreteness and pragmatism that the Acquaroli Council has wanted to undertake since its inauguration, convinced that only by returning to giving value to the riches that our region offers, can we build a development model for modern and sustainable tourism, as well as increasing the level of quality of life of the citizens of the Marche".
