Liguria: 250 thousand euros from the region to clean up the beaches of Sarzana and Ameglia hit by storms
Following the storms of recent months, the Liguria Region supports the municipalities of Sarzana and Ameglia with a contribution of 250 thousand euros to deal with the problem ofaccumulation of wood on the beaches. An intervention that intends to safeguard the accessibility of the coast while preserving the health and safety of the population.
Following the survey carried out by Arpal at the request of the Liguria Region, regional funds equal to 65 thousand euros, in Ameglia, and 185 thousand in Sarzana, or proportionally to the quantity of material deposited in public areas of the coasts. The regional contribution will thus cover a significant part of the costs of collection, storage and sorting of the deposited materials subsequent start for recovery or disposal entrusted to specialized subjects of municipal competence. This was decided during today's regional council signed by the Civil Protection councilor Giacomo Giampedrone.
“The Liguria Region also stands out on this occasion for knowing how to deal with emergencies quickly, providing essential contributions for local communities – underlines the councilor Giacomo Giampedrone -. This further step forward in favor of the Municipalities confirms that the Civil Protection system works and is a good practice on a national scale. The intervention of the Region, which for these events obtained the recognition of the State of Emergency, aims to guarantee adequate preparation in view of the upcoming spring holidays with particular attention to the crucial role of the beaches in the tourist attractiveness of the Levant, as well as for the safety of swimmers".
