Italy and Europe in Support of Moldova: Meloni Meets President Sandu in Budapest

The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, participated together with the Leaders of France, Poland, the United Kingdom, Romania and the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission to a meeting with the President of the Republic of Moldova which was held on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Budapest.

Congratulating the President Maya Sandu for re-election to the second term, President Meloni reiterated the Italy's strong support for Moldova, to its path to European accession and to the path of democracy, freedom and the rule of law that the Moldovan people have undertaken despite attempts at interference.

Italy has translated this support through the signing of an agreement on social security, for the benefit of the Moldovan community present in the country, and will continue to offer its support, with a particular focus on the energy sector and strengthening Moldovan institutions to address security challenges and hybrid threats.
