The main objective of the meeting is to strengthen aid for the civilian population in the Strip. The meeting, in particular, aims to address the critical issues relating to humanitarian access to Gaza and the distribution of aid. The conference also intends to focus on the role of UNRWA in the Strip and on international coordination on the issue of future reconstruction.

Italy has been activating the project “Food for Gaza” to ensure aid to the Palestinian population. From October 2023 were 70 million euros allocated and, within the framework of “Food for Gaza”, further 40 tons of goods They arrived in Amman last week, in addition to what has already been done.

There are four main purposes of the meeting: 1. Humanitarian response; 2. Ensure adequate preparation at the ceasefire; 3. Support the flow of aid to Gaza through Egypt; 4. Planning of the first phase of recovery.

The organizers expect humanitarian commitments of a financial nature as well as general indications on the availability to commit to reconstruction, when conditions allow it.

"In Cairo I am sure that we will be able to continue along the path we have traced in Pescara and then in Fiuggi. I thank Egypt and the United Nations for organizing this important meeting, which will represent an excellent opportunity to strengthen our coordination with Arab partners, discuss how to promote stability in the region and think about future reconstruction" he declared Tajani.

The meeting will also be the first opportunity for the international community to discuss the new chapter of the crisis in Syria, with the advance of the military formations of the group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham towards the south of the country.
