Giorgia Meloni in Tripoli for the Italian-Libyan Business Forum

On the sidelines of the business forum, President Meloni had a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdulhameed Mohamed Dabaiba.

The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, went to Tripoli to participate in the Italian-Libyan Business Forum, the first to take place in Libya after more than ten years.

Il business forum, which saw a particularly qualified participation of representatives of the Italian and Libyan business world, was structured into four sector tables dedicated to energy, fisheries and agro-industry, health and pharmaceuticals and infrastructure and design, in addition to a session dedicated to illustrating the forms of public support for Italian companies intending to get involved in Libya by ICE, SACE and SIMEST.

During his opening speech, the Prime Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, announced the resumption of direct flights to Libya by ITA Airways, starting next January, as evidence of the progressive and constant strengthening cooperation between the two nations.

On the sidelines of the business forum, the President Meloni had a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdulhameed Mohamed Dabaiba.

The discussion focused on the different areas of a continuously growing bilateral cooperation. Among the sectors of the Italian-Libyan collaboration, the two leaders addressed the issue of the management of migratory phenomena, in which President Meloni underlined the need for intensify efforts to combat human trafficking and, at the same time, of Strengthen cooperation with the countries of origin and transit in the framework of the Rome Process and the Trans-Mediterranean Migration Forum of Tripoli last July.

At the end of the meeting, there was also a unanimous desire to collaborate with the aim of create equal partnerships with African nations within the framework of concrete projects launched by the Mattei plan for Africa.
