Foggia, the Municipality increases and improves the service to the most needy people in conditions of extreme poverty and marginality.

The Institutional Coordination of the Territorial Area of ​​Foggia, in the session of 1 March 2022, decided to apply for the ministerial funding allocated by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies as part of the social intervention under the PON Inclusion ESF 2014-2020, REACT-EU resources.
The nominated project will allow us to increase and strengthen the Social Emergency Service (PIS), active in the Municipality of Foggia since December 2020, to support people in conditions of extreme poverty or marginality.
The project proposal will be nominated by participating in the Public Notice n.1/2021 PrIns (which has allocated funding of 197 thousand euros for the Municipality of Foggia), which will make it possible to strengthen the listening desks, through the activation of an additional desk at the Social Service headquarters, via Fuiani n.16, where there is a huge influx of fragile subjects, for whom it is necessary to activate urgent and indifferent interventions.
The candidate project tends to increase the activity of engaging, listening and understanding the needs of fragile categories through the intervention of specialized figures.
The social emergency service office being set up will connect with the two offices already present in the city (one located in Via Candelaro, n. 90 and the other in via Ernesto Petrone, n.14), and will constitute the space in which the subjects fragile people will be able to reduce their state of isolation from the network of local services.
To strengthen the service we will make use of highly specialized figures with experience in services for people in marginal conditions: Professional educators, for social accompaniment using the subject's potential with personalized projects; Linguistic mediator who will facilitate integration and communication between foreign individuals and the host society; Social workers who will carry out accompanying, caring and taking charge functions for urgent interventions.
The presence of specialized personnel will be able to carry out an interpretation of the identified need and activate the necessary interventions to resolve the problems that have emerged.
Participation in this new public notice will also allow the municipal administration to improve the offer of services to people in need, thanks to a monitoring and analysis of data on the needs of vulnerable categories to plan interventions dedicated to the specific needs of individuals living in situations of extreme poverty, with immediate specialist responses.
In this way the Extraordinary Commission, and, on its behalf, the Social Service, takes charge of the new and, unfortunately, increasingly widespread poverty that the Covid pandemic has contributed to increasing in the city, trying to intercept resources aimed at offering a further response to the needs of vulnerable individuals who go to the municipal headquarters of Social Services every day.
